Chef Kingston: Nitza's Pizza (Sherwood Park)
Well, it's Review #10 and the PizzaMonsters decided to do something a little special for the milestone.
Nitza's Pizza on Wye Road in Sherwood Park has a great program allowing kids to take a tour of a real pizza kitchen and even to get involved and make a proper pizza of their very own!
The experience includes your free pizza (that you made) and a free slurpee! A donation to the Stollery Children's Hospital will let you do the very same every Sat & Sun from 1pm-3pm.
This sounded like something that was right up our alley and so the PizzaMonsters headed to Nitza's to hit the kitchen!
Nitza's is easy to find, located in a Strip Mall just off Wye Road. It's pretty basic inside, but was clean with very friendly staff. It's counter style service (with just a menu taped down on the counter to look at, they could use a large board up top with a menu to make it easier) and so you order up and then grab a table to wait for your pizza.
Well, usually that's what you do... but the PizzaMonsters were here not just to eat pizza, but to MAKE pizza too! So, instead, Kingston got to go back in to the kitchen where all the magic happens. After a brief tour and a hand wash, it was time to build. With a helpful assistant, the kids are shown how to make their pizza, which they get to pop in the oven and then once ready, they get to help cut it up and take it out front to enjoy!

The Place: 3.5 - It was clean and the people were friendly. I loved it.
The Crust: 4.5 - The crust is perfecto! Just enough thinness.
The Sauce: 4 - Perfecto! Just enough spicy and just enough yummy!
The Cheese: 4 - It was chewy and yummy.
The Toppings: 4 - The italian sausage was perfect spicy, and the pepperoni was perfecto too.
The Leftovers: 3.5 - Just as good for lunch.
PizzaMonsters Verdict: 4 I can't believe I got to make my own pizza in a real pizza kitchen! It was super exciting!! I really liked the pizza too.

The Place: 4 - Very friendly staff, and a great experience for the kids.
The Crust: 4 - Buttery, flavour filled crust. Not thin-crust, but close.
The Sauce: 3 - Just about the right amount of sauce, but a little unnoticable.
The Cheese: 3 - Average coverage, average taste... average score.
The Toppings: 3 - All the italian meats were delicious (pepperoni, italian sausage, cappicoli), but there was way too much onion and tomato on the Cappicoli pizza that it seriously overpowered the rest of the toppings.
The Leftovers: 3.5 - The crust went a bit chewy next day, but the cold pizza made a solid lunch.
PizzaMonsters Verdict: 3.5 It's not up in the same class as its italian competition in the city, but Nitza's Pizza is a decent offering and a lot of fun. Bonus points for their work with kids and the community. Interesting to see how different pizza joints size their pizzas... 10" is a pretty small medium.
