A Slice of History: Boston Pizza (Whyte Ave)
History. It's what brought us all here. Boston Pizza's history starts here in Edmonton. Originally named Boston Pizza & Spaghetti House, and started by Greek immigrant Gus Agioritis in 1964, the business quickly grew and now has franchises across North America.
Boston Pizza also has a personal history for me (Steve), as I spent a few years working at a B.P.'s after High School and during College where I both learnt a lot and met some fantastic people! Little did I know then, that I would turn out to be a PizzaMonster!!
We made our way down a busy Whyte Ave and went inside. It smelt great and immediately memories of many pizzas past came flooding back. We were soon in a seat and eagerly awaiting our next contender. The place was fairly quiet for a Friday night, and were greeted and ordered up in no time; though we barely missed a large Sorority reservation which would have changed things considerably.
The place was clean, everyone was smiley and we soon had a O.J., a cold beer and a neat activity book w/crayons to pass the time while we salivated in anticipation of our pizza.

The Crust: 4.5 - Perfect crust! It was nice and chewy.
The Sauce: 4 - Almost perfect sauce too. I could have used just a little more.
The Cheese: 4.5 - Just enough cheese, just enough chewiness.
The Toppings: 4 - Really good, lots and lots of pepperoni and bacon bits!
The Drink: 4 - Good orange juice too.
PizzaMonsters Verdict: 4.5 I really liked the restaurant, it was really nice. The pizza was almost perfect. I would definitely go back!

The Place: 3.5 - Happy staff, quick service, and very kid-friendly.
The Crust: 3.5 - Light with crunch and chew. Pretty solid crust offering.
The Sauce: 4 - Probably the most flavourful we've come across, and there was plenty of it! For once, we didn't wish we had extra.
The Cheese: 4.5 - Complete coverage with thick, chewy cheese. Delish!
The Toppings: 4 - Very tasty pepperoni and proper bacon on one half, solid ham and loads of cheese on the other. Well played.
The Drink: 3.5 - What can you say about a cold Keith's and an O.J. that hasn't already been said? Hit the spot.
The Leftovers: 3 - The crust wasn't the best the next day. A little stale tasting, but the rest made for a great lunch.
PizzaMonsters Verdict: 4 It's as good as I remember. Great coverage coast to coast, thick with tasty toppings and cheese. I counted 8, yes eight, slices of pepperoni on one slice of pizza! Needless to say, we went home with full bellies. The downside? The price. Probably the most expensive offering so far, which is really what made me consider giving a 3.5 overall. Perhaps history bumped me to the 4, but this is a solid offering.
