An Edmonton Legend: Tony's Pizza Palace (111 Ave)
Tony's Pizza Palace. Ever since the PizzaMonsters started munching, this Edmonton favourite has been recommended to us countless times, (we'd love to know your favourite pizza too, drop us a line) and so we had to make it the next stop on our hunt for the most amazing pizza in Edmonton!
It's an older place in an older neighbourhood, but it checks out, and having been here for over 25 years, with all that experience, they surely must know how to make a good pie. In fact, they're so confident, they even let you watch!
It was a very busy Friday evening around 6:30pm and the place was packed. While lining up at the door, we chatted with a few regulars who enthused about the pizza... but then who also got quite annoyed at not being seated for their reservation, and quite rightly too, as reservations after them were seated while they still waited.
Overall, with such a busy place (and they have to expect it at this point) they really do need a full-time host to assist the many waiting people and keep things better organized. That being said, everybody was very friendly and after a bit of a wait, the PizzaMonsters managed to sneak a table.
It's a traditional sort of Italian place with a cozy atmosphere, quick-moving and helpful staff and best of all... a spot built just so that you can stand and watch the great team in the kitchen prepare your food. In fact, we were so distracted with the dough show, we didn't even notice our pizza had made it to the table...

The Place: 4 - I like this place a lot. It was busy, dark and loud. It was amaaaaaazing to watch the person throw the pizza dough up in the air.
The Crust: 4 - This is the best crust i've had in Edmonton so far.
The Sauce: 4 - Not enough sauce, but it was really good.
The Cheese: 4.5 - I love the really stringy cheese, it was amazing!
The Toppings: 4 - The pizza was so yummy, the pepperoni was pretty spicy but i liked it. Lots of toppings too!
The Drink: 4.5 - The Orangina was better than the Royal Pizza pop, it had the perfect amount of bubbles.
The Leftovers: 4 - I like this pizza as leftovers, it stayed yummy.
PizzaMonsters Verdict: 4.5 This is the best pizza we have tried so far, and even though there wasn't enough sauce... it was sooooo good, i want to go back!

The Place: 4 - Neat place, friendly feel, very clean, and well, watching the guys in the kitchen was fun for me, never mind Kingston.
The Crust: 4 - Soft yet crisp with the right amount of chewy. It's a thin crust but not wa-fer thin, and has a good bite to it.
The Sauce: 3.5 - Once more, I forgot to order extra sauce and we could have used more, but there was a decent amount and it had a good zip.
The Cheese: 4 - Great cheese, stringy & chewy and lots of it. Not Royal Pizza lots, but lots.
The Toppings: 4 - Both halves were tasty and loaded with plenty of toppings. The pepperoni was spicy and delicious with the piles of mushrooms. The salami was also good and the tomatoes were sliced nice and thin, overall very good.
The Drink: 4 - First time having a Perroni lager, which was great. Good selection of draught & bottled beer and a full bar.
The Leftovers: 4 - Held up great next day, eaten cold and what was left disappeared very quickly.
PizzaMonsters Verdict: 4 Tony's has a reputation here in Edmonton and it's well deserved. Classic pizza, friendly neighbourhood feel, and with dinner and a show with the masterful dough tossing display, the PizzaMonsters will be back.
